Backyard Synthetic Golf Greens was the impetus for the inception of Pro Green Canada, created in 1998 operating from Eastern Canada. Understanding the difficulties of having a real backyard golf green, ProGreen Canada searched out alternative surfaces that could mimic the playability of a real golf green, something that would not only be minimal maintenance but long-lasting.

formed the basis for the creation of a synthetic putting surface that introduced the real prospect for the average homeowner to own a backyard putting green rivalling the performance of any golf green found on private and or exclusive golf courses without the headaches.
With a twenty-five-year history and going strong, ProGreen Canada has installed over 500 putting greens. Over those many years we have continued to make improvements to our installation protocols. Simultaneously with enhanced product innovations and mandating these new improvements, solidify All-Pro’s PG AUGUSTA product as the industry-foremost putting surface.
All-Pro Surface Solutions PG AUGUSTA
is a top-level putting surface critical to a proper ball roll. Equally important is the infill ingredient that provides the proper ballast adding a tremendous aesthetic and assists with the ball-to-surface interaction. Our infill is infused with Microban, an antibacterial agent, addresses long-held concerns of moss, mould, and algae growth familiar in the artificial golf green industry.

ProGreen Canada parlayed their involvement in the synthetic golf green industry to capitalize on the enormous growth in the burgeoning artificial landscape grass industry. Multiple factors initiated the demand for an alternative to real grass, including pesticide bans, water shortages and warmer temperatures. The innovations made in the artificial grass industry mimick real grass-wowing homeowners’ look and feel, especially those challenged with hard-to-grow grass areas.

The traditional artificial golf green sub-base construction until now is the old tried and true method of installation. It consists mostly of a significant excavation and disposal of existing soils from the site. After the excavation process, highly compactable stone aggregate replaces the extracted materials. This method is still the go-to method of a good golf green ball roll, but in some instances, it poses problems over time.
The beefy base excavation process is not only tedious but, perhaps more important, problematic environmental awareness is coming to the forefront when introducing a new compacted stone aggregate into a landscaped environment. This highly compacted base allows for inferior drainage. The new base materials are considered by most to be detrimental to the environment, especially if nearby vegetation, shrubbery or trees are part of the landscape.
Secondly, even the best installed compacted aggregate base is not without the worry of degradation over the years. Heavy rainfall just before a big frost event can destroy the golf green playability with inferior draining conditions. Rodents tunnelling under the green surface, creating caverns under the surface are not uncommon in other instances.

This new cutting-edge base technology provides ProGreen Canada with a superior base replacement using common-sense engineering to eliminate the costly and tedious traditional golf green base construction process.
When considering a synthetic putting green, the crucial component for a long-lasting and true ball roll is the sub-base construction. The smaller the green size, the subtle the undulation, breaks left and right can determined on-site. A larger-sized putting green provides for considering greater sloping, undulations and even multiple tiers into the final design. Depending on soil conditions, base depths of six inches are typical using combinations of clear stone, granular “A,” and limestone screenings, all requiring proper grading and compaction for a final smooth surface. Unlike artificial turf for lawns, all synthetic golf green turf backing is non-porous. Without drainage through the backing, golf greens bases have to be crowned or sloped to ensure water runs off the surface. Low lying areas or soil conditions that hold water may require O-pipe for drainage to prevent freeze and thaw that could destroy the desired smooth sub-base surface.
PG AUGUSTA
Not be confused with a nylon putting surface (not recommended for the outdoors!) Our PG AUGUSTA has absolutely the best ball roll of any polypropylene putting surface available and is 100% American-made! Our PG AUGUSTA putts true on the day installed and stays that way for the life of the product 25-30 years, and even better, it putts the same in every direction. ProGreen Canada can get the ball speed to run to a 10.6 on the stimp-meter. Either install over a big beefy aggregate base or using our Ultrabase panel system, our PG Augusta turf gets infilled with 2 lbs. of Envirofill, which helps mimic the ball acceptance from bump and run shots or lob shots just like a real green from 40 yards out.
Our PG AUGUSTA feels incredibly soft and cushioning underfoot as in the raw state; our PG AUGUSTA has a very natural bent grass spring feel like no other turf in its class.
Standing water mixed with a sand infill used in most golf green construction is a moss or algae nightmare that needs to be avoided at all cost. ProGreen Canada has partnered with Envirofill to set a new GOLD STANDARD as the perfect in-fill solution for golf greens
ProGreen Canada now uses Envirofill – Microban® in all its golf green installations for the antimicrobial protection infused into Envirofill during the manufacturing process to help prevent the growth of bacteria and microbes that can cause stains, odours, and product deterioration.
Coated Sand
DEFINED: Coated sands such as Envirofill are especially highly round granules of sand coated with an acrylic polymer.
Coated sands offer superior durability and consistent performance. The roundness of the sand avoids compaction, and the antimicrobial infused coating inhibits the growth of bacteria in the infill profile
